Fake job offers that want a fee

Longer note · updated October 2026

Real work pays you. An offer that asks for money first isn't a job, however it's presented.

How the request appears

  • Registration or activation fees before any work
  • Paid training sold by the "employer"
  • Equipment or kits you must buy from them
  • Deposits to unlock tasks or withdraw earnings
  • Forwarding money through your account, which can involve you in a crime

Earlier signs

Messages you didn't ask for, unusually high pay for simple tasks, contact only through private chat apps and pressure to decide today.

What to do

Don't pay or forward anything. Stop replying and report the account. If you've already paid, call your bank straight away and report it to the police or your country's fraud reporting service.
